Last time I blogged with an update on my progress of the Insanity programme was nearly 2 weeks ago!
Apologies all – it’s been a while – I’ll get you up to date right now. So at my last blog I had a week from hell and failed miserably to get through the workout programme. And then it happened again. Last week, I did stupid hours at work and play and suddenly it was Thursday and I had totally failed to schedule time to workout. So, I stopped, had a word with myself – and went and did something totally different. I think if I am honest, I was not bored with working out, but getting bored with the programme. So Thursday and Saturday last week I went to my gym and took part in two of the hardest workout classes that gave me aches and pains in places I forget I have until I go to said classes. It worked a treat.
So, this week, once again, I have embarked back on Insanity and I feel like I am back on it proper. I am coming to the conclusion that my attention span is probably a little short for a 60 day programme, particularly one that I am now 2 weeks behind on so will take 70/80 days to finish. I WILL finish it, but I have to actually really apply myself once again to it.
Having said the above, today I really enjoyed the Plyometric Cardo Circuit. I am definitely fitter then I was before. Today was the first day I have managed a full 3 circuits of Power jumps (one of my nemesis’s of this programme in terms of individual exercises) and my press up abilities continue to improve (I still can’t do more then 10 in a row but I no longer feel I am going to die in the process and don’t have to resort to doing push ups on my knees unless it’s a really quick circuit.) Plus, the great thing about this workout programme is that the workouts are brief… the warm up takes about 10/11 minutes, then there is 6 minutes of stretching before the circuits and about 3/5 minutes after. So in the end it’s only 15 to 20 minutes of kill yourself cardio. It’s carefully designed to make sure you can get it done and be showered in an hour. (I say an hour, I am red for about 2 hours afterwards but that might be just me.)
So, on we go. Apologies again for stop start, and the lack of updates. Hey, no one is perfect and I think those of you who’ve read this blog for a while will know this is quite the challenge for me!!
